Great Blue Herons are special favorites because they freeze as they feed, and fly relatively slowly, and reveal their emotions through unconscious manipulation of their feathers. But they generally remain among the stateliest and most elegant members of the avian dinosaur order. Time spent with these animals teaches patience and appreciation for nature’s provision.
